Who we are
Sharples Roofing (“we”, “us”, “our”) is a roofing contractor based in Dorset. We are the data controller for the personal information described in this policy. You can contact us about privacy at info@sharplesroofingltd.co.uk or on 01202 761960.
What information we collect
When you contact us or request a quote, we may collect:
- Your name, phone number and email address
- Your postcode or property address
- Details about your roof and the work you need, including any answers you give in our quote form
- Photos of your roof, if you choose to upload them
- How and when you’d prefer us to contact you
- Any other information you choose to include in your message
The “Do we cover your area?” postcode checker works entirely in your browser — the postcode you type into it isn’t sent to us or anyone else.
How we use your information
We use your information to respond to your enquiry, arrange a survey, prepare and send quotes, carry out and invoice work, and provide aftercare. We rely on the following lawful bases under UK GDPR:
- Contract — to take steps at your request before entering into a contract, and to carry out work you’ve agreed to
- Legitimate interests — to respond to enquiries and run our business
- Legal obligation — to keep financial records as required by law
We will never sell your information, and we won’t send you marketing unless you’ve asked us to.
Who we share it with
We only share your information where necessary — for example, with the service that delivers our website form submissions, our accountant, or suppliers involved in your job. Anyone we share information with is required to keep it secure.
How long we keep it
If you don’t go ahead with a quote, we keep your enquiry for up to 12 months in case you have questions. If we carry out work for you, we keep records for up to 7 years for accounting, guarantee and legal purposes.
Your rights
You have the right to access, correct or delete your personal information, to object to or restrict how we use it, and to ask for a copy in a portable format. To use any of these rights, contact us using the details above.
If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
Cookies
This website does not use advertising or tracking cookies. If we add analytics in future, we’ll update this policy and ask for your consent where required.
